A few pictures I’ve taken in the last month or so (I’m trying to get better about posting).

Some pictures from Point Pelee National Park in Ontario, the southernmost part of mainland Canada. As is probably obvious, the place is known as a hot spot for migrating birds, and this Monday, 23rd May 2017, was at the tail end of the annual Festival of Birds.

For these pictures, I tried acting like a real photographer and shot in RAW format for the first time, including post-processing. Alas, my telephoto lens simply doesn’t take pictures as sharp as my other lenses, so despite the extra work, they don’t look quite as good as other unprocessed pictures I’ve taken (which would be nearly everything I post here). It was an interesting experiment and I did learn a few things as a result, however.

And to round it all off, here’s a couple panorama pictures I took with my phone. Naturally, these, particularly the first one, are shockingly sharp and high-res, especially considering the full-size images are 30% of the original size.

As regular readers might notice, I’ve updated the look of this blog, as well as some of the information on the various pages.  I also cleaned it up a bit, removing some outdated, unnecessary, or undesirable content.  The colour scheme I had before never quite suited the header image I’m still not compelled to change, so it was rather fortunate that WordPress’s theme randomizer pulled this similar format up as the first result.

Let’s hope a little change can help spark some more consistent updates.  I’m not really in a position to share details at the moment, but I can say that big things are happening behind the scenes, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, shock and awe, I do believe I am finally up to date with photos:

New art:

The next calendar catgirl, after too much of a hiatus.  It’s been a hectic past few weeks, and hopefully I’ll have more time and more stability to get some more art done soon.

The winning photos from an October trip up to Huntsville, Ontario, slightly late in the season but, obviously, when the trees were still fiery with fall colours.  Enjoy and stay tuned for more photos.  After the trip to Niagara Falls the past couple days, I do believe I should have some more good ones to add to the pile.

Next batch of photos from Washington is up:

Now, if you’ll allow me a moment of self-assurance, I took a lot of really good photos on the west coast.  When I first did a quick run through my pictures, looking for photos that really stood out as gallery-worthy, I ended up with about eighty, and that was being conservative.  Obviously, since I had a grand total of 48 gallery-worthy photos since I first got my own camera, I had to shrink that number down a bit for these gems I’ve been posting this week.

That doesn’t diminish the value of the ones that were cut for the final show, however.  So, to see the rest of the pictures that really stood out from the nearly 1,300 I took in Washington, feel free to visit my Photobucket album, where you will see more photos such as these:

Second to last batch of photos from the weekend:

I’ll admit I didn’t post the first particularly based on technical merit.  I’m just thrilled that I have a camera that can pick up stars.
